Mission
Combining knowledge from different professional fields, we develop and build highly aesthetic objects characterised by durability, material savings and sustainability.
So Concrete is a Czech innovative company that develops and builds architectural objects, supplies and designs building structures and realises design objects made of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) using robotic production (3D printing). We create real-life structures from architectural visions in a way that outpaces current technology. We combine robotic programming, innovative concrete and the most advanced practices in construction with practical knowledge.
Our goal is to move the construction industry towards long-term sustainability. One of UHPC’s greatest strengths is its resistance to environmental influences – and therefore the resulting concrete objects are virtually maintenance-free. Along with material savings of 40 to 60%, our technology significantly reduces the environmental burden of construction.
So Concrete, an innovative technology company, was founded by Serge Borenstein and Federico Díaz with the intention of fully utilizing the advantages of digital concrete for its structural and aesthetic possibilities, maximum production efficiency, and the associated environmental and economic friendliness in the construction and architectural industry.
Comprehensive client support in the field of digital concrete is provided by a multidisciplinary team, made up of professionals from the fields of building and structural engineering, materials technology, design, programming and robotics.
The technology and production center in Holešovice, Prague, provides more than 1000 sqm of facilities for the realization of an entire range of serial products and individual projects. It currently has three robotic workstations that allow the printing of individual objects up to 3 × 8 m. All services are delivered locally and internationally.
Serge Borenstein, the co-founder of the Karlin Group, develops award-winning projects with high architectural standards and the implementation of modern technologies. He focuses mainly on the revitalization of formerly industrial areas of Prague. He collaborated with the world’s leading architect Ricardo Bofill on the urban-architectural transformation of Prague’s Karlín into a contemporary urban district. Federico Díaz is a world-renowned artist, a pioneer in the application of digital technologies and robotic fabrication in art and architecture, on which he has lectured to architects and designers at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Institute of British Architects in London, Columbia University in New York, ETH Zurich and many others.
