Ventilation Blanka
Cladding panels for the structure providing ventilation for the Blanka tunnel in Prague. Precast concrete units are used as cladding on a cylindrical reinforced concrete structure which provides ventilation of the Bubeneč Tunnel – a part of the Blanka system of tunnels in Prague. The surface of the cladding elements is a work of art using a unique technique of carving a special mix of sand and oil by a robotic arm. A complex broken-up convex relief with heraldic motifs was achieved. A total of 176 pieces of atypical prefabricated panels were produced from self-compacting concrete with a width of 1,322 mm, a height of 2,350 mm. The thickness was variable from 75 mm to 175 mm, given the convex shape of the panels and the complexity of the relief.
